dsTest supports Cellular Serving Gateway Node (C-SGN) Testing in the Machine Type Communications (MTC) network segment, a key segment in future cellular mobile packet data networks.   MTC specifications provide the ability to differentiate MTC devices, allowing operators to selectively handle MTC devices in congestion/overload situations.  3GPP has added specifications to integrate Cellular Internet of Things/Narrowband Internet of Things (CIoT/NB-IoT) communications into the overall network.

dsTest can surround a C-SGN with all the interfaces needed to verify the Mobility Management Entity (MME), Serving Gateway (SGW), and PDN Gateway (PGW) functions required of a C-SGN,  with node simulators/emulators to provide complete testing of the C-SGN.  dsTest supports the Control Plane and User Plane optimizations that have be specified for CIoT network implementations, including those for the S1, S5/S8, and S11 interfaces.  dsTest also supports the MTC Diameter (client and server) interfaces on the following MTC network entities in 3GPP LTE networks:

dsTest supports additional EPC network interface applications to provide an overall testing solution, and provides many tools for compliance and functional testing of EPC nodes, interfaces and protocols.

Comprehensive sets of Operational Measurements (OMs) for the applications, S1AP, and Diameter, User Data, plus infrastructure level OMs are collected at configurable intervals and stored in a SQLite database on the dsTest server.  Real-time measurements may be retrieved through our dsClient CLI interface or analyzed via our dsClient GUI interface.
