dsTest supports both server emulation and client interface simulator capabilities for the 3GPP LTE S6c Diameter interface. Use our S6c Interface application on our Home Subscriber Server (HSS) Emulator node to test the capacity and performance of a GMSC/SMS-SC/IWMSC. Use our GMSC Emulator with the S6c interface application to test your HSS. Customize S6c messages using our SmartAVP feature.
S6c is part of dsTest’s SMS and CIot/NB-Iot Interface Application portfolios. For the S6c Reference Point, the Diameter application ID is 16777312, the vendor identifier is 10415 (3GPP) and is specified in 3GPP TS 29.338.
Comprehensive sets of Operational Measurements for the S6c Interfaces, Diameter, and socket level are collected at user-specified intervals and stored in a SQLite database on the dsTest server. Real-time measurements may be retrieved through our dsClient CLI interface or graphed via our dsClient GUI interface.
The S6c application implements the following 3GPP procedures:
- Send Routing Infomation for MO Request/Answer (SRR/SRA)
- Report Short Message Delivery Status Request/Answer (RDR/RDA)
- Alert Service Center
A complete set of events that can be generated with the S6c interface can be found here, and our Diameter Dictionary can be used to help design, test, validate, and interpret the results of your Diameter testing.
GMSC/SMS-SC/IWMSC Testing (Server Emulation)
The GMSC server emulator initiates the appropriate procedure when appropriate, eliminating the need to dedicate a production server to lab activities. You can manually trigger server-initiated procedures such as Alert Service Center by executing a event chain with a run-time command or during an automated test.
HSS Testing (Client Simulation)
Our S6c Interface application simulates a GMSC S6c interface to determine the processing capacity and performance of an HSS. The S6c Interface application allows users to validate HSS performance and capacity in a realistic network environment, replicating the deployment configuration. Execute timed chains of test events with a run-time command or during an automated test using our SmartEvents feature to trigger HSS-initiated procedures.
Multiple nodes can be instantiated on a single server, each with scalable subscriber loads and transaction rates. In this mode the S6c interfaces of up to 1000 independent client nodes may be simultaneously simulated. The nodes are fully independent and their subscriber configurations may also be independent, overlap, or be duplicated.
