dsTest provides support for MTP3 User Adaptation layer (M3UA) Testing with M3UA peer simulation for Mobile Application Part (MAP)  network implementations.  M3UA is used to transparently transport SCCP information over IP networks, providing the same set of primitives to the upper SS7 layers as does MTP3.

With the dsTest M3UA test application, you can test accomplish Fuzz Testing of  M3UA messaging between any of our MAP peer simulators and emulators.  For example, test M3UA messaging to your Serving Gateway Support Node (SGSN) with our Home Subscriber Server (HSS) Emulator, using our Gr Interface application.   MAP is specified in 3GPP TS 29.002, and M3UA is specified in RFC 4666.

Comprehensive sets of Operational Measurements for M3UA, Signaling Connection Control Part (SCCP)Mobile Application Part (MAP) and Transaction Capabilities Application Part (TCAP) are collected are specified intervals and stored in a SQLite database on the dsTest server.   Real-time measurements may be retrieved through our dsClient CLI interface or graphed via our dsClient GUI interface.

Implementation

The M3UA Interface Application implements the following messages:

  • Signaling Congestion (SCON)
  • Destination State Audit (DAUD)
  • Destination User Part Unavailable (DUPU)
  • Destination User Part Available (DUPA)
  • Destination Restricted (DRST)

ASP State Maintenance (ASPSM) Messages

  • ASP UP (ASPUP)
  • ASP Down (ASPDN)
  • Heart Beat (BEAT)

Routing Key Management Messages

  • Registration Request (REG REQ)
  • Registration Response (REG RSP)
  • Deregistration Request (DEREG REQ)
  • Deregistration Response (DEREG RSP)

Configuration

Using our dsClient GUI, you can configure M3UA messages to do both positive/conformance and negative testing on the M3UA stack in your device under test (DUT).
