McKinney, TX (Aug 2, 2013) –  With 3GPP Release 10, the Traffic Detection Function (TDF), along with the Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) and the Sd interface definition, provides a method for standardized traffic analysis and coordination with Policy Control.   Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) applications in the TDF must be tested to insure that they are providing effective policy enforcement information to the PCRF, providing better application identification and control.  With this capability, policy intelligence and control can be extended to new traffic management functions.  This testing  also supports the primary use of Big Data – to identify new patterns and allow them to provide new business opportunities, revenues, and efficiencies  to network operators.

dsTest  supports this testing, enabling TDF/DPI testing within existing Packet Data Networks (PDN).  dsTest provides the server emulators, client simulators, Diameter interface applications, and required protocols that allow you to leverage your investment in your current PDN testing environments.

See the Use Case on Testing DPI within an Existing PDN test environment.

About dsTest

dsTest’s performance and growing collection of protocol applications  gives dsTest the ability to identify potential bottlenecks in the lab before they show up in the network.  Developing Solutions helps carriers and equipment manufacturers avoid costly downtime by easily scaling an environment to simulate hundreds of millions of subscribers to test capacity, scalability and redundancy.

dsTest originates, receives, and processes signaling traffic into and from the core network.  Multiple emulated nodes can be coordinated to simulate the UE traffic for complex signaling interactions such as VoLTE.  Unlike some test tools, dsTest provides stateful, standards-based applications that react appropriately to both expected and unexpected events without the need for scripting.  dsTest surpasses all other tools with  its capacity, performance, and the ease with which you can customize the scenarios and messages to achieve your testing goals.
